Shipping Australia has attacked critics of the port of Melbourne channel-deepening project, claiming that some of their arguments “just don't stack up”.

Chief executive Llew Russell said there were complaints regarding the expected amount of spoil that would be generated by the 32.1m cu m of capital dredging and 1.1m cu m of ongoing maintenance dredging.
