End in sight for the Exxon Valdez law saga
EQuitas can begin sorting out a complex US$780m claims roundabout after a judgment in the Court of Appeal in London brought clarity to a reinsurance dispute related to the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
The court has rejected an appeal by the D G King Syndicate 745, made through the specialist reinsurance vehicle of Lloyd's names, against a decision by Mr Justice Colman last May in favour of retrocessionary insurer Brandywine Re.
