'Shallow water equals backwater'
Seventeen leading Victorian and national organisations on Tuesday called for decisive action on channel deepening in Port Phillip Bay, warning that Melbourne will be increasingly left off the international trade map if work doesn't begin soon.
A spokeswoman for the Victorian planning minister, Rob Hulls, told Lloyd's List DCN that a decision from the minister on the recommendations of the inquiry into the environmental effects study on channel deepening is not imminent.
