New South Wales premier Nick Greiner would not have known 19 years ago how much of a no-brainer it would have been to have a direct rail line between Port Kembla and western Sydney right at this moment.

As shipping and transport brains ponder the great unknown of how to move 290,000 cars out of Port Kembla, many into Western Sydney, some merely cast their minds back to 1988 when a rail line in exactly that direction was...
