Certainly . . . . . . uncertain
This time last year carriers were celebrating a solid performance in the trade with southeast Asia. Imports were still booming, exports were recovering, rates rising slowly and the true pain of runaway bunker prices yet to be inflicted.
Most importantly, the trade was stable.
Since then quite a bit has happened. Oil prices skyrocketed and then fell back to earth. After a steady year southbound volumes fell off a cliff in December and have continued to fall.
