A containership market devoid of any positive news for the past year is taking heart from some recent fixtures which suggest the worst could be over for small tonnage.

While over-supply is expected to keep the earning potential of big ships under pressure for several more years, a different scenario is becoming apparent for vessels of up to 2000 teu capacity.
