Tanker assessed after incident off Port Botany

A chemical tanker was assessed by class surveyors yesterday before her scheduled arrival at Port Botany, Sydney Ports Corporation said.

The 1996-built, 16,337 dwt Golden Georgia arrived at the port yesterday amid speculation that her hull had been damaged after striking an unidentified underwater object, possibly a container.

Lloyd's List DCN was awaiting further information from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
