US$231m loss is OOIL's first in a decade

Orient Overseas (International), parent company of box carrier Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), has posted its first interim loss for 10 years.

OOIL reported a US$231m loss in the first six months of the year as container liftings fell 17.2% and revenue per container slumped 24.1%.

This compared with a US$159.9m net profit in the first half last year.

Revenue fell 37% to US$2.1bn...
