Emergency services personnel have been unable to find evidence of a gas leak which caused the shutdown of a small area of the port of Brisbane this morning.

Police set up a 300-metre air and land exclusion zone after workers at Patrick's port logistics facility discovered what they thought was gas leaking from a container at about 5.15am.

The area has now been declared safe but a truck driver who had earlier visited the port was treated in hospital for possible exposure to the gas.

The exclusion zone has now been lifted.
