Europe imports decline continues to worsen

Container trade from Europe to Australia shows no signs of recovery, with European Liner Affairs Association (ELAA) data recording a 30% fall in imports in June compared with the same month last year.

Southbound Europe-Australia/Oceania volumes fell to 25,551 teu in June, dragging second quarter trade down by 27% year-on-year.

However, northbound volumes fell only 6% in June to 15,476 teu.
