Fourth Qantas A380 to boost London service
Qantas Airways took delivery of its fourth Airbus A380 yesterday to boost the national carrier's services to London, starting September 7.
Service boost: Qantas has taken delivery of its fourth A380
The latest addition would increase the frequency of the airline's A380 Sydney-London service via Singapore from three to four times a week, Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said.
The airline's fifth and sixth A380s will be delivered by the end of this year, lifting the number of Melbourne-Los Angeles services from two to three times a week, Mr Joyce said.
"Qantas will then operate 17 return A380 services per week between Australia and the UK and US," he said.
Qantas has carried more than 300,000 passengers on the A380 service since its launch last October.
Another three A380 aircraft would be added to the airline's fleet in 2010, Mr Joyce said.
