Panama flag sees 10% growth

PANAMA’s flag register increased to 8,644 vessels at the end of July, rising from 8,605 in December 2008.

The rise represented a 10.1% growth in tonnage to 202.6m gt. Panama’s merchant fleet now represents 21.9% of the world’s total fleet exceeding 500 dwt in size.
