MISC boxship ‘Achilles heel’ is bottom line

MISC, the world’s largest owner and operator of liquefied natural gas carriers, reported a RM315m (US$89.3m) loss for its liner business in the first quarter.

The Malaysian shipowner reported a first quarter net profit of RM282m for the period ending June 30, down 49.6% year-on-year, which it blamed on losses from its container shipping and chemical tanker businesses, and lower profits from its petroleum tanker...
