Terminal closures see LNG carriers surging

THE NUMBER of liquefied natural gas carriers operating on the spot market doubled this month to 15 vessels due to the closure of two export terminals in Norway and Indonesia.

StatoilHydro closed down the Snhvit plant in Norway and BP shut the Tangguh LNG export facility in Indonesia, releasing at least eight vessels dedicated to shipping LNG from these ports on to the spot market, for the next three months....
