Banks shunning smaller Chinese shipbuilders

CHINESE banks remain cautious of financing the country’s small to medium-sized shipbuilders over fears of high default risks.

The Chinese government has urged local banks to provide financial support to the ailing yards and their customers but, so far, only the largest shipbuilders have received support.
