AMSA farewells Montara as rig is written off

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has wrapped up its Montara spill response as Seadrill accepted that its near-new West Atlas drilling rig was a write-off.

Write off: The fire-damaged West Atlas rig and Montara platform.

AMSA had not found any oil during its daily flights over the area, which ended on November 28, meaning its involvement could end after three months and two weeks.
