Kelly appointed NSW infrastructure minister

by samc last modified Dec 09, 2009 11:26 AM

Tony Kelly has been appointed New South Wales infrastructure minister under new premier Kristina Keneally.

It is the third personnel change to the state's infrastructure portfolio in less than a month.

Mr Kelly takes responsibility for many of the portfolios Ms Keneally vacated when she replaced Nathan Rees as premier last week.

Former infrastructure, ports and finance minister Joe Tripodi – credited with installing Ms Keneally, his political ally, to the state's top job – was not reinstated to the cabinet.

David Campbell remained transport and roads minister, and Paul McLeay retained ports and waterways.

Meanwhile, new Federal opposition leader Tony Abbott has appointed Ian Macfarlane as shadow infrastructure minister.

Michael Keenan retained shadow responsibilities for justice and customs, losing workplace relations, while Cory Bernardi will assist the shadow minister for infrastructure.

The opposition's Senate leader, Nick Minchin, gained resources and energy to his shadow portfolio.
