Australia backs Antarctic cruise control measures

Antarctic Treaty countries, of which Australia is one, will work more closely with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on cruising in the remote and pristine region.

This follows the Antarctic Treaty Meeting of Experts (ATME) in New Zealand last week, attended by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

Countries which manage Antarctica haved pledged to seek mandatory controls on ships visiting the southern oceans...
