Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Line has secured its first 20-year charter agreement with Rio Tinto to transport iron ore from Western Australia to China.
Under the agreement, NYK will deploy a 250,000 dwt very large ore carrier to undertake the contract with shipments starting from 2013.
It is unclear if NYK will fulfill the contract using its own tonnage or chartered-in ships.
