Sugar the future fuel

UNTIL the economic slowdown, commodities were a must-have for any aspiring investor’s portfolio. Except for one: sugar.

Quite why the white stuff failed to ignite when it was being heralded as “the new oil” was surprising, but the principal culprit for this state of affairs must be market forces.
Put simply, there was too much sugar around.
