A RECORD was reached last week when the size of the idle containership fleet reached 11.7% as lines continued to withdraw services in anticipation of lower demand over the course of the northern winter.
Latest Alphaliner figures show that 572 containerships with combined capacity of 1.5m teu are inactive.
That is ahead of the peak touched last March before the amount of laid-up capacity dipped a little mid year.
