Rio Tinto puts projects on ice as exports tumble 18%

Rio Tinto is set to mothball or delay major mining projects as fourth quarter iron ore shipments from Australia slumped by 18% in the last quarter of 2008.

The production fall is the steepest recorded in the past eight years.
