Newcastle sees further trade growth ahead of grain increase

Trade through the port of Newcastle touched on almost 50m tonnes in the last six months of 2008.

Figures released by the Newcastle Port Corporation this morning showed steel and iron were the largest non-coal commodities handled at the port.
