Anti-whaling protests and other forms of political demonstrations at sea face tough new restrictions under a proposal before the International Maritime Organisation.

IMO affiliates are pushing for changes to international regulations which could have implications for groups such as the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, which operates the 1975-built former patrol boat, Steve Irwin (ex Robert Hunter ).
