Charterers switch to crude double hulls
Some of the world's largest charterers of single hull tankers dramatically cut back using these vessels last year after South Korea's Hebei Spirit oil spill in December 2007.
Double hull, very large crude carriers accounted for as much as 53% of all spot tankers booked to South Korea last month, and as much as 85% in August 2008, according to data compiled by London-based broker, Gibson.
