The future of the Australian crewed containership Spirit of Esperance remains unclear, given BHP Billiton's indefinite closure of its Ravensthorpe mine and the cloud over its Yabulu refinery.
Jebsens, the ship's agent, was unable to comment on the future of the ship and neither the Maritime Union of Australia nor ASP Ship Management, which supplied the crew, had been contacted about the ship.
The miner would not comment...
