Port still loading despite Timbercorp collapse
The port of Albany is continuing to export Timbercorp's woodchip product, despite the imminent winding up of the company.
Loading continues despite uncertainty
Timbercorp has been in voluntary administration since April.
With Timbercorp creditors having voted last week to wind-up the company, there were reports that the group's woodchip harvesting and deliveries to the port had ceased.
However, the Albany Port Authority has been told it is business as usual for the foreseeable future and that the company intends to continue shipping.
The port exports about 1.5m tonnes of woodchips each year and loads a ship about every 10 days.
All of Timbercorp's woodchip exports are shipped to Japan.
Port authority chief Brad Williamson said while there had been some uncertainty about the future of Timbercorp's activities, the company had indicated it intended to continue shipping.
Meanwhile, agricultural funds manager Great Southern has been declared insolvent with debts of $700m.
