WWL Oceania celebrates 10th anniversary
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) celebrated its 10th anniversary this month, expressing confidence that it would ride out the current economic downturn.
MARTIN: foundation
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) began operations in July 1999 following the merger of Wallenius Lines of Sweden and Wilh. Wilhelmsen of Norway.
“WWL is 10 years young, yet it carries a heritage that spans more than 100 years," WWL Oceania regional director, Greg Martin said.
"The Oceania market of Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands has been a foundation for the company with Wilhelmsen vessels first calling to Australia in 1895."
WWL president Arild Iversen described market challenges as "unprecedented".
WWL has taken early measures to counter the situation." Mr Iversen said.
"Far from being depressed, we continue to work with new cargoes, new customers and new markets.
"Our cost control is first rate, and we have taken the necessary measures to ensure that we will emerge from the ongoing situation a more efficient company than ever.
"At WWL, we are using this time as an opportunity to develop innovative solutions to support our customers demand for increased efficiency in their outbound supply chain.”
