Qld oil spill: governments responsible for insurance shortfall, says Swire

Swire Shipping put the Pacific Adventurer spill ball back in Canberra's court today, saying that costs exceeding compensation limits were usually borne by governments.

Following more trenchant Queensland media criticism of its refusal to pay the full clean-up cost, Swire pointed out that the upper limit of claims was unknown.
