by Lloyd's List DCN last modified Jul 29, 2009 12:45 PM

Traffic has begun flowing across the first of 15 bridges to be constructed as part of South Australia's Northern Expressway project.

Federal infrastructure minister Anthony Albanese and SA premier Mike Rann were scheduled to open the Angle Vale bridge today.

The 23 km, four-lane freeway will link the Sturt Highway in the north to the port of Adelaide.

The federal government has committed $451m to project while the SA government has provided $113m.
