SAL opposes Gillard coastal shipping work laws move
SHIPPING Australia (SAL) has rejected federal workplace relations minister Julia Gillard’s push to bring coastal permit ships under Australian industrial law.
Such a move was likely to drive up costs and effectively push much more domestic cargo on to road and rail, which in turn would increase rather than reduce Australia’s carbon pollution, SAL chief executive Llew Russell said this week.
