Iron ore, grain exports tipped for big increase

IRON ORE exports are poised to rise as miners such as Fortescue Metal Group ramp up their production, according to the Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics (ABARE) June quarter commodities report.

Exports would rise by 8% in 2009 to 333m tonnes and then a further 5% to 348m tonnes in 2010 as Fortescue  boosted production at its Pilbara mine and Cliffs Natural Resources produces to capacity at its Koolyanobbing operation, ABARE...
