BHP chartering fails to remedy capesize woes
RENEWED chartering activity by mining giant BHP Billiton did nothing to stem the slide in capesize rates last week, as more vessels became available after congestion eased outside Chinese ports.
“There were a handful of charters by BHP Billiton but they did nothing to improve sentiment,” one Hong Kong-based broker said.
Another said: “There is less and less congestion, particularly outside northern Chinese ports such as Rizhao and Dalian....
