Dutch officer takes helm of anti-piracy force

COMMODORE Peter Bindt has been appointed European Union Force Commander of the anti-piracy mission off Somalia, writes Justin Stares.

The Dutch officer will take over the rotating role for the next four months on August 13. His official brief is to “contribute to the deterrence, prevention and repression of acts of piracy and armed robbery off the Somali coast”.
