THE LIVESTOCK export mortality rate last year was less than 1%, according to a report released last week.

LIFE ON BOARD: Cattle deaths in transit saw a slight increase in 2008 but better for other species

LiveCorp and Meat & Livestock Australia’s 2008 national livestock export industry shipboard performance report revealed slight changes in percentages of sheep, cattle and goat deaths compared with 2007. But a success rate of more than 99% held across the species.
