A powerful cross-industry lobby led by shipowner organisation BIMCO is stepping up its campaign against the use of armed private guards on merchant ships to counter piracy.
The BIMCO delegation to the International Maritime Organization in London has expressed grave concern that onboard private forces with lethal weapons capacity
will trigger an escalation of violence off Somalia.
