Queen's Birthday honours for shipping and transport personalities
Shipping Australia's Captain Doug Bourne-Jones was among a host of personalities from the shipping, transport and logistics industries named in the Queen's Birthday honours list this week.
Capt Bourne-Jones received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to transport and logistics particularly through the shipping industry.
The 80-year-old is the South Australia secretary of Shipping Australia.
Alan Brown also received an OAM for his contributions to road, transport and the Kyogle community.
Mr Brown is the founding chairman and director of the Brown and Hurley Group, Australia's largest dealer of Kenworth trucks.
Other Order of Australia Medals went to Hugh Edwards for service to Australia's maritime heritage and Norman Paterson for services which included road transport.
Paul Tyrrell became an Officer of the Order of Australia for his contributions to major constructions and transport infrastructure projects in the Northern Territory as did Gregory Poche for his service to sectors including freight transport.
Kevin Wright received a Public Service Medal for service to the rail industry in New South Wales.
Others connected to transport and shipping were also recognised.
