The International Air Transport Association has called on governments, service providers and airlines to use the global economic crisis as an opportunity to build a stronger sector.

Giovanni Bisignani: Not business-as-usual

IATA director general Giovanni Bisignani stressed the importance of resizing and reshaping in what he described as the most difficult period the industry had ever faced.

"The industry is in survival mode," Mr Bisignani told a group of industry leaders in Kuala Lumpur.
