$40m softener tipped for exporters facing AQIS fee

The Federal Government was looking to provide $40m to cushion the blow of the withdrawal of a quarantine fee subsidy for exporters, a source close to the government said today.

The Federal Opposition and independent senators said recently that they were waiting for full details from the Government on the proposal.

However, they have flagged using their numbers in the Senate to block any Budget-related move which did not...
