Europe to renew anti-piracy efforts
The European Union has extended its anti-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia by 12 months, warning that the “serious threat” to shipping is set to continue.
The decision, announced by the EU’s council of ministers, came shortly after the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation confirmed it would send another taskforce to Somalia after the current five-ship fleet pulls back on June 28.
