Recognition of Australian transport excellence

by Lloyd's List DCN last modified Jun 17, 2009 12:46 PM

Excellence, achievement and endeavour will be recognised at the 14th annual Lloyd’s List DCN Australian Shipping and Transport Awards which will take place on November 26 at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

Fourteen awards will be presented this year to companies, organisations and individuals who have excelled across a variety of categories.

Confirmed sponsors include Fremantle Ports, Port of Melbourne Corporation and Svitzer.

For more information on sponsorship contact Luke Smith on +61 2 9080 4335 or luke.smith@informa.com.au.

The awards will see the launch of three new categories designed to recognise the excellence and commitment shown by many in the shipping and transport sector.

Agents, brokers, classification societies, legal, finance, telecommunications and IT suppliers are encouraged to nominate for the newly-created Maritime Services Award.

The evening will also recognise the emerging talent in the industry with the New Generation Award open to those under the age of 35 who have made a special contribution to their industry in the past 12 months.

Support of seafarers will also be recognised with the Seafarers Welfare Award.

Other categories continuing from previous years will recognise exceptional liner services, environmentally-friendly initiatives, safe work practices, security innovations, training and education excellence and achievement in transport and logistics.

The leading freight forwarder of the year, based on nominations received before the October 16 deadline, will also be named on the night.

Other important awards will recognise the leading port or terminal and the most newsworthy individual from the past 12 months while a prominent shipping and transport personality will be inducted into the Trade and Transport Hall of Fame.
