Infrastructure breakthrough

FORTESCUE Metals Group has agreed in principle to provide rail haulage and port services for BC Iron’s Nullagine mine in the eastern Pilbara, BC Iron said last week.

The deal, a memorandum of understanding which was signed in 2007, was for an initial 3m tonnes a year (mtpa) of iron ore, rising to 5mtpa once port and rail infrastructure has been expanded.
