Tankers slip below line

ALL but one of the Baltic Exchange’s crude oil tanker routes showed time charter equivalent earnings below operating costs last Friday.

Average daily operating costs are estimated at between US$7,000-US$8,700 for aframax, suezmax and very large crude carriers.
However, the benchmark TD3 route for VLCCs transporting crude from the Middle East to Asia was at W29, with earnings of US$5,458...
