Airfreight figures dismal and worse to come: IATA

The Asia Pacific airfreight sector has continued its downward spiral, with fresh data indicating a further decline in January of 28.1% compared with the same period in 2007.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said last week that the figures were an alarm bell for the industry.

European carriers were also down 23%, while North American airlines fell 19%.

The international cargo industry as a whole collapsed...
