In a win for the 510 employees at its Brisbane heavy maintenance base, Qantas said the four-year-old facility would now handle the A330s in addition to the Boeing 767 fleet it currently maintains.

The A330s were previously maintained overseas.

Qantas operates 22 of the aircraft, 10 of which are A330-300s.

The rest are A330-200s, six of which are used by Jetstar.

Qantas will take delivery of another two in the next 12 months.

The change to the maintenance work takes effect from early next year.
