by Rob McKay last modified May 12, 2009 01:01 PM

Lloyd's Register has a new head of its Asia-Pacific operations, the classification society announced yesterday.

John Rowley has succeeded John Stansfeld, who has returned to London to drive the implementation of the organisation’s new group strategy.

Formerly of chemicals firm Ecolab, Mr Rowley will be responsible for almost  2000 staff across a region which stretches from China and Japan to Australia and west to the Indian subcontinent.

His remit will include operational responsibility for the group’s five divisions in Asia - chemicals and power, marine, management systems, transportation and its oil and gas division.
