Employees from Patrick's auto, bulk and general facility at Webb Dock in Melbourne had threatened action for 24-hours on Friday after the union said long-running negotiations had stalled.

"We're working through it and we believe we are making progress," MUA Victorian branch secretary Kevin Bracken said.

"The talks have been pretty fruitful on both sides, so we're going to keep with it."

The talks are restricted to workers at Webb Dock only.
