Qmastor and RedPrairie hail IT moves
Significant bulk logistics and freight supply chain IT developments have been announced by Qmastor and RedPrairie.
Qmastor has signed a five-year deal with US firm Jim Walter Resources for installation of the Pit to Port.net, Horizon APS and iFuse systems at coal mines in Alabama, the Australian-listed firm said yesterday.
The deal's value was not disclosed.
Pit to Port.net and iFuse are used at the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.
Meanwhile, US supply chain software firm RedPrairie has rolled out a new parcel application that it said was integrated with its transportation management and warehouse management systems.
“Many retailers, parts suppliers and other companies ship a large volume of parcels directly to their customers,” RedPrairie vice president of product strategy Tom Kozenski said.
“In the past, this process was often a separate operation within the warehouse, or may have been handled by a separate facility or a third-party provider – an expensive approach that fails to leverage the cost-saving capabilities of integrated transportation and warehouse management solutions.
"By integrating our parcel, transportation management, and warehouse management solutions, RedPrairie will enable our customers to handle parcel shipments concurrently with their other warehouse and transportation operations, streamlining fulfilment and reducing costs.”
