Agility Project Logistics has won a $250m supply base operations and transport services deal with Chevron Australia to support Western Australia's offshore Gorgon gas project, Agility said yesterday.

“This is a significant step for the company as we continue to develop world class logistic operations to support the Australian offshore oil and gas industry," Agility Australia managing director Mick Turnbull said.

"This project will require significant investment and recruitment and will have an important impact on the West Australian economy.”

The Gorgon Project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of operator Chevron, Exxon Mobil and Shell, to develop the Greater Gorgon gas field located 130km- 200km off the north-west coast of the state.

The Greater Gorgon gas fields contain about 40trn cubic feet of gas and is Australia’s largest-known undeveloped gas resource, Agility said.
