Swire Shipping's services shake-up continues apace with changes to its South East Asia- Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands service announced by the line yesterday.

Swire Shipping will operate a 10-ship service from the middle of June in combination with the South East Asia-New Zealand service operated by Tasman Orient Line – now wholly owned by Swire Shipping’s parent, The China Navigation Co.
The transit time from Singapore to Lae of seven days and of 11 days to Honiara will better the previous 12 and 23 days service respectively, it said.
“Combined with increased frequency this is now a premier service for customers trading on this route,” Southeast Asia service line manager Adrian Butler said.
In addition to the Tasman Orient Line vessels, Swire will continue to trade its Challenger-class multi-purpose vessels through PNG as well as operating a dedicated single-vessel shuttle service.
The three strings will be combined within a single service framework.
“The revised schedule profile delivers a number of benefits to our customers,” Mr Butler said.
“This upgrade will offer more direct ports of call, greater cargo capacity, improved service regularity and reliability coupled with faster transit times.”
